Denne art stammer fra New Zealand og anses for at være en af de letteste tuberous-arter at holde. Den tidligere vækst starter som en flad rosette et par centimeter i diameter. Herfra starter den oprette vækst så med masser af skjold-formede blade dækket af klæbrige tentakler. Den oprette vækst kan blive på til 80 cm høj hvis planten står i skygge! Der dannes talrige lyse lilla blomster i slutningen af vækstsæsonen. Denne art anses til tider som en under art af Drosera petata.
En nem og anderledes art, der kan holdes i vindueskarmen året rundt, så længe man er opmærksom på hvileperioden.
