Mimosen (Mimosa pudica) er en mindre busk, der stammer fra det sydlige og centrale Amerika. Den har dog spredt sig til store dele af verdenen, hvor den mange steder er blevet et stort problem som en invasiv ukrudtsplante. Herhjemme er planten nok bedre kendt som "rør mig ej" eller mimose. Dette henfører til bladenes meget særegne egenskab til at folde sig sammen. Ved berøring eller stærk blæst vil hvert enkelt lille blad folde sig sammen og senere hele stilken. Dette sker også om natten eller under stærkt sollys. Man mener det er en måde at beskytte de sarte blade på under kraftigt regnvejr eller ved meget stærk sol. Udseendet er sart med små grønne blade i fjer-agtig form. Stilken er ligeledes grøn som ung plante, men mere træagtig hos ældre planter og med torne. Blomsterne er smukke rosa, runde og pjuskede.
Herhjemme kan planten holdes de fleste steder fra en lys vindueskarm til drivhuset. Ofte er der dog tale om en 1-årig plante, da de meget sjældent overlever vinteren for at kunne fortsætte væksten den næste sæson. En succesfuld overvintring kræver lys (uden direkte sol) og kølige temperaturer - gerne omkring 5 °C. Jorden skal også holdes mere tørt. Lykkes det at overvintre planten vil den på sigt kunne vokse sig til en mindre busk på omkring 1,5 meters højde. Planten formeres let ved frø om foråret.
