Denne palme stammer fra de tørre områder i Mexico og sydlige Californien. Bladene er vifteformede, op til 2 meter lange og karakteristiske med deres tråde imellem hvert blad-segment. Denne palme ynder at stå varmt og kan tåle meget høje temperaturer. Jorden skal helst ikke være for våd. Den kan sagtens overvintres i stuen, hvilket gør pasningen noget nemmere.
