Denne spektakulære palme stammer fra Australien, men er ligesom så mange andre palmer, nu at finde mange andre steder i verdenen. Nogle steder er den ligefrem blevet et problem. Bladene er mørkegrønne og fjerformede. Blomsterne er violette og frugterne røde og yndet af diverse fugle.
