They are found virtually everywhere with a little moisture and play a major role in breaking down organic matter. Like the small \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.apieceofnature.dk\/products\/hvid-tropisk-baenkebider-trichorhina-tomentosa-ca-30-stk\" title=\"White tropical isopod\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.apieceofnature.dk\/products\/hvid-tropisk-baenkebider-trichorhina-tomentosa-ca-30-stk\"\u003ewhite tropical isopods\u003c\/a\u003e, they reproduce asexually (parthenogenetically). \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn the hobby, they are most often used as supplementary feed for poison dart frogs and a few aquarium fish. However, they are at least as important as \"cleanup crews\" in terrariums. Here, they help break down waste and organic matter, thereby keeping mold and flies away. We have intentionally introduced springtails into all of our \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.apieceofnature.dk\/collections\/unika-terrarier\" title=\"Bioactive terrariums\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.apieceofnature.dk\/collections\/unika-terrarier\"\u003ebioactive terrariums\u003c\/a\u003e and also into several of our potted plants.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are several exciting ways to cultivate your own culture. Some grow them in coconut humus, others in pure activated carbon. We have successfully grown them ourselves in \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.apieceofnature.dk\/products\/aktivt-kul-3-l\" title=\"Activated carbon\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.apieceofnature.dk\/products\/aktivt-kul-3-l\"\u003eactivated carbon\u003c\/a\u003e, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.apieceofnature.dk\/products\/terrariejord\" title=\"Terrarium soil\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.apieceofnature.dk\/products\/terrariejord\"\u003eterrarium soil\u003c\/a\u003e, and non-fertilized peat moss.
