How to use the cactus and succulent soil mix

Give your cacti and succulents a new lease on life with this soil mix! Follow these simple steps to ensure your plants thrive:

1. Remove old soil: Start by gently removing as much of the old soil as possible. Squeeze the pot gently while holding it sideways to loosen the plant.
2. Clean the roots: Rinse the roots under lukewarm water to remove any remaining soil residue.
3. Trim dead leaves: Use scissors to remove any dead leaves from the plant.
4. Prepare the pot: Add a small layer of Cacti & Succulent soil mix to the bottom of the pot.
5. Place the plant: Set your plant in the pot and gently fill the soil mix around the sides. Ensure the point where the roots meet the plant is just covered by soil.
6. Secure the soil: Lightly press the soil down into the pot. Water thoroughly after repotting to help the soil and roots settle.

Caring for cacti and succulents

Proper care is essential for your cacti and succulents:

• Watering schedule: Water every other week during the warm periods (spring and summer) and once a month during the colder periods (autumn and winter). Use only special fertilizer for cacti and succulents, and only apply fertilizer during the warm periods.
• Fertilizer: The soil mix already contains enough nutrients for at least 180 days, so you do not need to add fertilizer until the next warm period.
• Watering amount: Ensure you thoroughly soak the soil mix with every watering. A common misconception is that you should only water a little bit each time. Imagine a cactus in the desert – when it finally rains, it gets soaked. Give your plant time to absorb the water.
• Light requirements: Cacti and succulents prefer plenty of sunlight and can tolerate several hours of sun, depending on the species.
