Nepenthes Gaya is a beautiful and robust hybrid, and one of the easiest Nepenthes plants to care for. Its growth is compact, it is hardy (can tolerate varying conditions), and it grows well. It is therefore an ideal plant for beginners.
Nepenthes Gaya is bred from the species Nepenthes khasiana x (ventricosa x maxima). It develops attractive red and striped pitchers and does well on a bright windowsill and as a general houseplant. It is recommended to keep it in a hanging pot.
Pitcher plants do not need to be kept as wet as many other carnivorous plants. However, the soil must never dry out completely. As with other carnivorous plants, pitcher plants do not like lime in the water. Therefore, use rainwater or demineralized water. It can be a good idea to spray them with water using a mister a couple of times a week.
Note: During winter, the plant may stop producing new pitchers. This is a natural reaction to the reduced light and lower humidity. By spring, it should begin to form pitchers again.
