Peacock moss (Selaginella uncinata)

• Latin name: Selaginella uncinata
• Danish names: Påfuglemos, pigmos, blå pigmos

• English names: Blue spikemoss, peacock moss, peacock spikemoss, spring blue spikemoss

Note: Selaginella uncinata is a rare and sought-after terrarium plant that is only occasionally offered for sale. Since it grows slowly and propagates sparingly, supply is often limited – but in return, it is extremely durable and long-lived once established. Therefore, these are smaller, but established plants.

Peacock moss originates from southern China but is cultivated in many places around the world. It is a popular plant/moss in greenhouses, conservatories, and not least in terrariums.

It is an exceptionally good terrarium plant that does not require much light, has a compact growth habit, and can help create the perfect rainforest vibe and tropical atmosphere. In low light, it will develop a bluish tint. Keep it in a humid terrarium with our special terrarium soil, and you will soon be able to enjoy this beautiful plant creeping along.
