Drosera adelae is a somewhat atypical and rare carnivorous plant. In nature, it originates from a small area of Australia (Queensland), where it grows in dense rainforest. Unlike almost all other sundews (and carnivorous plants in general), Drosera adelae does not like sunlight. Excessive light can easily kill the plant. However, this makes Drosera adelae fantastic as a terrarium plant, as it prefers slightly higher humidity.
As with other sundews, the leaves are covered in small sticky drops, on which small animals are caught and slowly broken down. It produces lovely, small, star-shaped, white flowers at the end of long flower stalks.
- Best grown in pure sphagnum moss, optionally mixed with a little carnivorous plant soil.
