-
Danish names: Queensland sundew, andromeda sundew

English names: Sundew, andromeda sundew
Drosera andromeda is a hybrid between the two sister species Drosera prolifera and Drosera schizandra. It is a very robust and lush hybrid that can reach a considerable size. As it is a hybrid between two Queensland sundews, this plant also does not tolerate direct sun. Drosera andromeda is fantastic as a terrarium plant or in a north-facing window.
This carnivorous plant most closely resembles Drosera schizandra, but the leaves are larger and rounder and covered in fine, sticky tentacles. The leaves change color from green to red, depending on light conditions, providing an alluring and colorful appearance. The flowers are likewise small, star-shaped, and light red to deep red depending on light intensity.
- Best grown in pure sphagnum moss possibly mixed with a little carnivorous plant soil.
