Five little snowmen have moved indoors, and fortunately, there is no risk of them melting here.
This charming paper cutout consists of five different snowmen, each with their own expression and personality. A little flock of winter figures that fits just as perfectly among the Christmas decorations as on the windowsill throughout the rest of the winter.
Cut them out, display them together, or let them pop up in different places around the home.
Create a little winter landscape
Cut out the five snowmen and let them find a place on a shelf, on the windowsill, or as part of a little winter landscape.
Combine them with branches, pinecones, spruce, and other materials from nature, or let the whole flock stand together as a simple decoration.
The snowmen naturally fit in well among the Christmas decorations in December, but they do not need to be packed away when Christmas is over. They are winter figures and can easily stay up through January and February.
Hand-painted Danish paper cutouts
The paper cutout is designed by Tall Hat Tales and has a cozy, hand-painted look, where each of the five snowmen has its own personality.
While our set of three snowmen has particularly simple shapes and is well-suited for smaller children, this is a more classic paper cutout with more details to cut around.
It is perfect for a quiet moment with the scissors while the winter darkness lies outside—regardless of whether the snow has actually arrived or not.
When snow becomes something else
There is something special about the first real snow.
An ordinary garden, field, or road transforms in a few hours, and suddenly the building material for snowmen, snow forts, and snowballs is everywhere around us.
Building figures out of snow is an old winter tradition, and what is fascinating is how little the basic idea has changed. You start with the snow and end with a figure that gets its very own expression.
A carrot becomes a nose. Stones can become eyes and buttons. A pair of branches becomes arms, and an old hat or a scarf can complete the work.
No two snowmen are exactly alike, and perhaps that is precisely why we keep building them.
A winter tradition across generations
Over time, the snowman has evolved into one of our most recognizable symbols of winter. But part of what is special about a real snowman is that it only exists for a short moment. Perhaps it stands in the garden for several weeks. Perhaps the thaw comes the very next day.
Yet we start all over again the next time it snows.
It is a simple winter tradition that children and adults can share, and it does not require any special occasion or holiday. There just needs to be snow and someone who feels like building.
Fortunately, the five little paper snowmen last a bit longer. They can be carefully packed away when winter ends and brought out again when the dark and cold months return.
