- Latin name: Drosera paradoxa
-
Danish names: Ulden soldug, soldug
-
English names: Woolly sundew, sundew
Drosera paradoxa belongs to the so-called woolly sundews. They have been given this name because of the white "hairs" on their stems. However, the hairs on Drosera paradoxa are not as pronounced as they can be on some of the other members. Woolly sundews originate from Australia. There, they grow in warm regions that receive a lot of rain in the summer, but almost none in the winter. They can therefore be a bit more difficult to grow, as they do not like temperatures below 18 degrees. Drosera paradoxa is, however, considered the easiest of the woolly sundews, as it can tolerate slightly lower temperatures.
This carnivorous plant is easily recognizable by its long stems and round heads at the end of the stalk, where the sticky dew sits. The flowers are delicate purple to white.
