The winged-stem passion flower is a large and beautiful climbing plant that produces large edible fruits. It originates from the Amazon region in South America.

The leaves are large, green, and oval. The flowers are beautiful, red, and fragrant. Full sun encourages flowering. After flowering and pollination, egg-shaped fruits are formed, up to 15 cm long, yellow to orange in color. The fruits are a popular food in its native country.

Germination of seeds

Pour lukewarm water over the seeds and then let them soak for 24 - 48 hours. Sow the seeds in moist seed compost or cactus soil. Alternatively, you can place the seeds between damp paper towels, which are then placed in a sealed bag. Place in a bright, warm location.

Passion fruit seeds can generally take a long time to germinate. You can try to speed up the process by carefully sanding the seeds with a nail file or fine sandpaper before soaking them.
